Welcome to Fort Foster Historic Site.

Fort Foster Historic Site is located at Hillsborough River State Park, 15402 US Hwy 301 North, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592.

Fort Foster was a US military post of the Second Seminole War (1835-1842) built in December, 1836 as a depot and fortification to protect the crossing place of the Fort King Military Road over the Hillsborough River.  Today, the fortifications on the site of this post, and the military bridge over the Hillsborough River have been reconstructed in Fort Foster State Historic Site, in Hillsborough River State Park in Thonotosassa, Florida. This page is dedicated to the Ft. Foster Living History Garrison, a group of volunteers associated with the Hillsborough River State Park Preservation Assn. Inc. who periodically encamp at the fort site, and conduct living history and reenactment programs on various weekends during the year. For more information on when these programs will occur, see our upcoming events page.
Also, feel free to contact the Hillsborough River State Park at (813) 987-6771 for more information on access to the fort site and tour information.
